The District Lounge, Newport Beach

Forgot the camera, so a blurry, rainy, picture from inside my car will have to do.

Outing with the old coworkers. I missed them.

Post #37- Slumdog, Alcohol, and the Quadratic Formula

After months of wanting to check out Slumdog Millionare, we finally caught an early show today. I've heard such good things about it since it came out I wanted to see what the hype was all about. Turns out, it was just as good as I had expected- I loved that they used no name actors, and real children from the slums. However, I did read an article talking about how the children were paid very little since it wasn't expected to be this successful- "trust funds" were set up in their names suppossedly.
After the movies, drinking, somehow talking and proving the quadratic formula, and hula dancing (dont ask).

Post #36 - When was the last time you had a 22?

Today was Jay's real birthday and we celebrated by watching the Lakers/Celtics game along with pizza and beer at their place..oh and cant forget the Butter Cake! Yummm...

Syl had personalized "Deja Brew" made for party favors- aren't they cute? And John asked me that night "When was the last time you had a 22?" my answer- "never"

Post #35 - Happy Birthday (Eve) Jay!

I spent the majority of the morning/afternoon at Peet's again. I like this Peet's (at the District) - its sunny, airy, and the baristas are so nice! I got there around 1030am, and the place was packed! I kept wondering what all these people do- are they working from home? are the unemployed also? I settled down into a spot and once again, job searched.

Later in the evening we celebrated Jay's birthday eve with dinner at Shik Do Rak. YUmmm. Talk about food coma though- the huge dinner as well as my damper mood kinda made it an early night for me.

I had a brief chat with a friend last night, and like he said, one of the advantages of being older than me is that he can provide me with really good insight to most situations.  What I took away from the convo was that I need to learn to chill out a little, to take life as it comes- I should take this time to enjoy life, stay in touch with friends, maybe travel a little, all while looking for a job. I can't let this keep me down. No more Debbie Downer mood. :) Thank you Ken.

Post #34 - And So It Continues...

Another productive day. Domestic duties in the AM, and hanging out at Peets in the afternoon. It was nice to get out of the house although I spent the whole time at Peets doing exactly what I would be doing at home- job searching. But sitting in a coffee shop having an iced coffee somehow feels a little bit better. Still in a pretty crappy mood.

So after a weekend full of degeneracy (is that a word?), I finally kick started the job hunt. I spent my morning resume/cover letter writing, and the rest of the day surfing the Internet for available positions. Sadly, with the current economy affecting the job market, there isn't much out there for me.

I started getting more pressure from the parents about where I'm going to look (NorCal vs SoCal), and honestly I don't even know what I'm going to do. I started stressing myself out because I'm the type of person who needs a clear, defined path or plan. Especially in my career- I can't afford to be jobless for too long. I spoke with Joseph for a while, and this is what he told me- "Plans are for suckers". I know that is the best way to look at it, because that's what life is about...spontaneity and experiencing life's ups and downs as they come..and that is something I'm trying to embrace.

The only thing that cheered me up today was the pig...both of them. :)
