Post #304- Happy Halloween!

All our labor paid off today with the compliments we got on our costumes! They were totally cute & I loved em! 

The night somewhat started with a bust at Butterfly. We were being hella spoiled partiers and refused to buy tickets for a party. We got there, and they were sold out. Bust. Had a great night though...ended up at Temple Bar on Polk St. where I ran into a bunch of old college friends that I have not seen since probably 2005. We saw some awesome costumes including the Seasame Street Crew, the Geico money stack, the clown from It, and Brit & K-Fed. Somehow we ended up at Sutra where we concluded the rest of the evening. Thanks to daylight savings, I got home at only 2:30. :) 

Post #303- Sweatshopping & P90X

Dinner with B at Kingdom of Dumpling- a little hole in the wall restaurant that he had heard about via Yelp. The food was delish, but we definitely overordered- 4 dishes for the two of us. Salt & Pepper Tofu, Cold Noodles, Shrimp & Pork Chive Dumplings, and XO Beef Chow Fun. Haha. Fatties. 

Back to Shell's again to finish up the costumes. The boys were really jealous of our awesome costumes, so they tried to rock them. Not bad hahaha...maybe it's their costumes next year. We sweatshopped today and finally finished all 4 costumes. We finished up Shell's today and did some last minute detailing. Afterwards, we joined Kevin in a mini round of his P90X workout. It was kind of fun...made me want to try it! Was an early night for me. 

Post #302- Halloween Parade

The Halloween festivities continued today at work with a "Boo Festival" at our Cafe. There was the usual pumpkin carving contests- this one was my favorite one even though it didn't win, costume contests- employees brought their kids in, and my favorite was a little Asian baby dressed as a snap pea, and over course tons of sweets and goodies.

Post #300- Sweatshop Workers

After a quick dinner at home, I went over to Shelly's so the girls and I could continue to the work on our Halloween costumes. Shelly measured me and Christine and worked on the sewing machine while the rest of us continued to cut out letters and glue. We felt like sweatshop workers....it was 10000x more labor intensive than making sorority pillows! But it will all be worth it, because our costumes are going to be HOT!

Part 1 of training: complete. 

Now comes the hard part- learning the systems. 

Twas a good day at work today- busy like a typical Monday, but slower since the buyers were all in NY. I got to sit with another Planner and go over in more detail the reporting and analysis that I will be responsible for later on down the line. I'm kind of excited to dive into my new role, but the next portion of the training lasts until the end of January! 

Post #298- Sunday Laziness

Woke up early after a pretty late night last night. Tried to nap again at home, but decided to be more productive. I baked some Carrot Cake Cupcakes for dinner later tonight...they turned out okay, but I think the rack was too close to the coils, and some have a slightly charred bottom. Whoops! 

Post #297- Sloshball!!!!

the birthday boy!! 

Celebrated Toby's birthday allllll day today. We started the afternoon playing sloshball at Golden Gate Park. Okay, so I watched most of the time from the sidelines with the girls, drinks in hand. We ate and drank while a bunch of other people played. 

Of course the sloshball game was not complete without a friendly game of Flip Cup! Boys vs. Girls. Unfortunately, us girls we'rent as victorious as the boys were: 

Took a nap after (if you call 3 hours a nap)....and woke up to dinner that B cooked :D The best I tell you. Then we went back and forth about going out since it was about 11pm already. Quickly went home to power change, and headed out to Sens for round 2 of Tobypalooza! Got to run into some SOPis, which is always nice since it's been about FOREVER since I've seen anyone. 

Post #296- TGIF

So, as part of our on-boarding at work, we were required to work two days in stores- yesterday and today. Today I worked the shipment shift and was awake at 4am to get to the store by 5am. Even though it sounds dreadful, it actually wasn't too bad- got some "rocket fuel" and jammed to the radio while we sorted through the shipment (1500 units!). It was enlightening to see how the work we do in the office trickles down to the store level. Sounds geeky, but it's true. 

Since I started so early, I was free to go at 1pm. I bummed around at home, did some laundry, and then went BACK downtown again to pick up B and exchange some things at BR. We met up some friends for dinner at Kappou Gomi (again)- DELISH! Toro, Tako, Ramen, Fried Unagi, Tofu, and other yummies. Stopped by the nearby bar for a quick drink and was home by midnight. Good Friday :)

Great day at work today. 

Downtown with B to shop shop shop at BR. We grabbed a quick, but yummy dinner at E&O and then went to Poleng for a CAAM event (shelly's company)- A Night With Gabe Bondoc. I have been a HUGE fan of his since I heard his songs on youtube. He is even MORE swoonworthy in real life. :) 

Post #294- Yikes

Public speaking/presentation skills is my biggest weakness. Today we had an all day workshop to develop our skills in the area. Our start group is small and we're all social with each other, but the thought of standing up in front of ANYONE kinda freaks me out. 

First project was to draw a picture describing/portraying yourself. Then we had to present it and explain it in front of our class. Check out my picture....hahaha

Post #292- Still Hurting

My first Retail Monday morning. Mondays are always the busiest day of the week in the retail industry. Recaps, summaries, and new projections. Thats a whole lot of trees!! 

Now try staying alert through all of this after a weekend in vegas! hahaha

Post #291- Hurting

Two night of partying. Almost 6 hours each night. Ohhhhh my body hates me. 

Had some grease for lunch, napped by the pool, and hopped back on the plane back home. But not before some last minute slot machines! 

I am tired. And I feel like crap. 

B picked me up from the airport and took my to Kappou Gomi for a delish (and soothing) dinner. He is the best. The Sukiyaki there is a must! Looking forward to trying some of the other things on their menu. 

Post #290- We Survived!

We woke up to bruised bananas, beds with french fries, and onion slices all over the floor. Signs of an AWESOME night in Vegas. 

We grabbed a quick lunch at Chipotle and cruised Ceasar's while window shopping at the fab stores. Decided we should go to the pool, but somehow ended up with Mojito pitchers and Blueberry Stoli shots at Tao Beach. We got there late, but managed to polish off 3 pitchers and have a good time. :) 

Prepped for a night out at XS- all of us staying at the Venetian were ready in record time- it's amazing how fast 7 people can shower and be ready! We surprised Amy with some goodies from the Bouchon bakery since she will be moving to Washington DC in a week!

Post #289- Viva Las Vegas!!!

Talk about an awesome day at work! Training in the AM and spent the rest of the day at a bbq/picnic with the Men's Planning Team at Chrissy Field. It was a gorgeous day today, perfect for a picnic!

Tonight marked the first annual cousin's trip to Vegas. I've always been very close with the Chin girls, but this was the first time we were all partying together. It was definitely EPIC. The girls all flew in around the same time- and although we were all thinking it might have been slightly awkward...totally wasn't! We met up the boy cousins, got ready, and started the party at Tao. Saw Kim Kardashian and met some rather interesting people to say the least. "I work in a hospital, but I'm not a doctor. I don't make enough money to buy ALL of you girls drinks!" 5 hours later, we stole some bananas, chowed down 3 cheeseburgers, and PTFO. 

Post #288- Thursday Adventures!

Another "information overload" day at work- half class and half in the office. Starting to get to know people better- everyone there is really friendly and helpful. It's funny too, cuz no one I've met is from the Bay Area, and they all seem so amazed that I grew up here. Hmm..

Weird weather today. Muggy and humid. 

After work, I walked over to B's office which was MUCH further than I thought. Good think I packed some comfy shoes- the trek would have been far worse in my 4 inch heels! B and I then walked over to Chinatown (again, thankful for comfy shoes) to check out the "The Art of Tea" exhibit that Lorens' Dad had told us about. It was really interesting- there were collections of teas and teaware that people had loaned to the museum for the exhibit. This was one of my favorites- a delicate teapot made of jade: 

Collin, Kimi, and Lorens also went to the see the exhibit and afterwards we had some Chinese appetizers, tea, and wine at the reception. 

We found out the some of our other friends were a block away at Taverna Aventine celebrating Vi's last day of work, so we stopped by for a quick second before going to dinner. Lorens and his Dad took us to a Sichuan restaurant nearby called Z & Y. The food was delicious and left my mouth numb from the spiciness.  Check out all the peppers!
