Ah yes, the normal Thursday routine. I got home from work, took a power nap (it's the best way to unwind in the shortest amount of time, trust me) and headed over to the boys'. I poured myself a glass of wine, and with the Laker game in the background, proceeded to read the newspaper (Thurs-Sun delivery) and attempted the crossword puzzle.

Steak and bacon mac n cheese dinner. Extra fatty.

Go Rockets! :)

Post #133- Channel Your Inner Duck

Have you ever watched yourself on video?

It's the weirdest thing. I had the second portion of my Public Speaking workshop today- we re-presented our prestations, but this time adding in some of the techniques we learned yesterday. The big deal bout today was that we were tape recorded. After we completed our presentations, we rewatched ourselves on TV so that we could recognize some of our faults/strengths. It felt weird because it's not often you see yourself as others see you.

Turns out, I didn't look as nervous as I felt, but I did say "kind of" and "like" a lot. Something to work on.

At the end of our class, we got rubber duckies. Reason behind is that if you watch a duck moving across a lake, it seems so calm, and graceful. BUT, underneath the water, it's kicking up a mad storm. SO- lesson is....when in front of a crowd, channel your inner duck.

Post #132 - Check This Out

Look at the moves John's got in the kitchen!

Work was somewhat rough today- it all started with the 4 hour training class in the AM. I signed up for a class at work that helps improve presentation skills. Doesn't sound very interesting, but I learned a lot from our instructor. Public speaking has never been one of my strong points, so I feel like this will definitely be beneficial to my position as it entails many many presentations.

I came back and the boys were cooking up a storm! Talk about a carb fest though- pesto pasta, white rice, fries (random), kimchi pancake, and tilapia. John says his moves made the food taste better. Hhaha

No matter how long I stay, everytime I go home to SF, I come back to the OC feeling sad. It's all the time spent with family and friends that make me miss home so much. I see my friends more often since they make trips down here every so often, but really, I get to see my family every 6 months. That's just terrible.

My parents have been sueding me to move home. I know they want me to be close by, but I need to figure out what will be best for me.

After a day like we had on Saturday, I truly do miss SF. A lot.

Sigh.

Pig came back home today. The other piggy took a field trip out of the house to the airport with me. I smuggled him out of the house in my purse. :)

Post #130- Back in the Vine

My parents and I brought some dim sum over to my grandma's house for lunch today. My grandma is 95 years old and everytime I see her, she asks who I am. She's still got her wits, so I think it just means I need to come home to see her home- once every 5 months just isn't cutting it.

After lunch I met up with Ali, JK, and Joseph for some catch up at the neighborhood Starbucks. It's always nice to catch up with friends, but this time made me especially nostalgic. We were talking about how we're getting to that age where our friends are starting to get married and settle down (!). Kind of nice, but kind of scary if you ask me.

Then sadly I had to head to the airport and returned home to a lonely house. :( I miss home already.

Oh my god...I've never missed home SO much until today. We woke up bright and early and muni-ed it down to the Ferry Plaza for some wandering around and lunch. After sampling tons of fruits/candy/salsas, etc...it was Hog Island for lunch! Oysters, clams, champagne, and some of my favorites...definitely a good way to start the morning!

After lunch I met up with the fam and we went down to Palo Alto for some shopping and a pre-Mother's Day dinner at Tamarine. My family always does a Mother's Day brunch, and this time we wanted to try something different.

I got home after dinner, took a 5 minute power nap, a few Advils and gathered up my second wind for a night out at Brunos. Mobbed it in the Volvo station wagon (a peek of our lives 5 years from now), had a few (too many) glasses of champagne, harassed Nick until he got me a street dog.....and got mustard stains all over my jacket.

Post #128- I'm Comin Home Again...

Virgin makes listening to the safety instructions cool.

Wow, I can almost say that today was a good day at work.

Thankfully, after work, Pig and I headed to the airport (thanks Niko for the last minute ride!). Virgin Airlines had just started service from SNA to SFO and I must say....it is THE best airline ever!! Cushy leather seats, video games, TV, seat to seat chat...awesomeness!

Got home, late dinner with the parentals....called it a night by 11pm.
